The direct-debit authorisation for German vehicle tax, mandatory at registration.

German KFZ-Steuer (vehicle tax) is collected annually by the Hauptzollamt (federal customs), not by the Zulassungsstelle. Since 2015 payment is only by SEPA direct debit — you must supply a signed SEPA-Mandat with an EU/EEA IBAN at registration. The tax is calculated from engine displacement and CO₂ emissions; typical passenger cars pay €80–350 a year.
