Zulassungsbescheinigung Teil II

Zulassungsbescheinigung Teil II (ZB II) is the German vehicle title — the equivalent of a US pink slip or UK V5C. It proves ownership and stays with the owner, not in the car. You need Teil II to register, sell or deregister the vehicle. Banks keep it as security when they finance the car. Without Teil II the Zulassungsstelle cannot register the car; a duplicate takes 4–8 weeks and costs around €60.
