Zulassungsstelle
The German vehicle registration office where cars are registered, transferred and deregistered.
The Zulassungsstelle is the local government office (Kfz-Zulassungsbehörde) responsible for vehicle registration in Germany. Every district and city has one. It issues the Zulassungsbescheinigung, assigns the licence plate combination, verifies your eVB insurance number and collects the SEPA mandate for KFZ-Steuer. In most cities you need an appointment booked online — waits of 3–6 weeks are common in Berlin, Munich and Hamburg. If you cannot attend in person, a third party can go for you with a signed Vollmacht, which is how remote registration services work.
